During this time, Eric was also the National Student Representative for the Canadian Academy of Audiology. With the desire to further his studies, Eric complete his doctorate degree at and became a Doctor of Audiology. He has since branched out into the community as the owner of Bujold Audio and continues to help individuals with all of their hearing needs.
Dr. Eric Deschenes
Letter to self
I was born with hearing loss; quite a bit of it as well. I am legally Deaf. So from a young age I was made to wear hearing devices. These devices allowed me to be able to function in the hearing world. Without them I am lost. Being able to hear, along with support from family, my better half and peers gave me the courage and belief that I could contribute to my community.
From the age of 8 or so, I truly recognized that I was different because of my hearing loss. I couldn’t enjoy going to the local pool and communicate in the same way with kids. In school I often would rely on textbooks rather than learning from teachers since I could not hear well enough to understand what was said. I wanted to understand the why I couldn’t be like others and why my hearing aids were so limited in their use.
I wanted to be an Audiologist and help those who have questions to the why we can’t understand when our ears are damaged. Why are the people around me always mumbling? Why is it that I get headaches when I’m in a crowd and am exhausted when I leave that environment. Why is it that I have this ringing in my ears. Why do I get stressed when I sleep alone, go to the store or do daily activities. I can understand because I live this too everyday.
I have worn just about every brand and makes of hearing devices available for the past 20 years. I have been using hearing devices for over 40 years. I have experience that not many audiologist have being on both sides of the coin as a professional and as an user. I have seen cases come to see my counsel and expertise from as far as 12 hours outside my served community area and even out of country.
I can guide you as to which hearing product will suit your listening needs best. It is not just getting the most expensive device. It is about what is best for you. I could sit here and tell you that my team has the best customer care, we have the best prices, access to the latest research practices and use the latest in technology, but honestly at the core of our mission, our goal is to provide the best experience possible and take care of you or your loved one like we would to family.
Hearing loss is not a temporary condition. It is a condition that follows us throughout our whole life journey. My staff and I are here to help facilitate this journey and help you enjoy life without the limitations of not being able to hear or understand. We can do this when we work together!
Join us at Bujold Audio and let us help take care of your hearing health to its fullest.
Sincerely
Dr Eric Dechenes. B.A, B. Ed, M.Sc, Au.D
